Brent North Sea crude jumped five percent on Thursday after Houthi rebels said they'd attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. The benchmark contract climbed to $98.80 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate gained 3.8 percent to hit $90.11, according to market data.

Traders feared the strikes could escalate Middle East tensions and open fresh conflict zones in the region.
