Bolt is rolling out a nationwide campaign to honour top-performing drivers across Nigeria. The ride-hailing company says the initiative recognises driver-partners for their professionalism and dedication to quality service.

Lagos and Calabar have already hosted the programme. Selected drivers in both cities received televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners and other household appliances.

Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Benin and Ibadan will host similar events in coming weeks. In total, 50 drivers stand to benefit from the rewards scheme.

Teddy Appah-Dankyi, Bolt's senior general manager for West Africa, explained the thinking behind the move. "Our drivers are the backbone of the platform," he said.

According to him, drivers help millions of Nigerians get to work and travel safely daily. "This campaign is our way of recognising and celebrating their hard work and dedication," Appah-Dankyi noted.

Bolt selected beneficiaries using specific metrics. Activity levels, service quality and overall platform contribution determined who qualified.

The company stressed that rewards aren't merely symbolic gestures. Rather, they offer practical assistance that can enhance driver living standards and support their families.

Several recipients have praised the gifts warmly. They noted the appliances arrived at a time when Nigeria's economic pressures weigh heavily on household budgets.

Industry watchers view such schemes as increasingly crucial in Nigeria's ride-hailing space. Driver retention, motivation and service standards remain vital for platform growth and customer satisfaction.

Beyond this campaign, Bolt continues investing in driver-focused programmes. These include discounted health insurance access, safety training and engagement initiatives.

According to the company, these efforts demonstrate commitment to creating opportunities beyond trip earnings. They also strengthen relationships across Bolt's driver network.

Notably, Bolt is conducting the campaign across six cities at once. This approach ensures drivers in secondary markets receive recognition alongside those in major centres like Lagos and Abuja.

Competition among ride-hailing platforms continues heating up across Nigeria. Companies increasingly prioritise driver welfare, incentives and support to maintain service quality and build loyalty.
