Boko Haram Strikes Again: Transmission Towers in Yobe Destroyed, Plunging States into Darkness

The Yobe State Police Command has reported that suspected Boko Haram insurgents have once again destroyed two 330 KVA power transmission towers in the state.

This incident has plunged the residents of both Yobe and Borno into darkness.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, shared this information with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.

According to Abdulkarim, the transmission towers, which supply electricity from Gombe to Yobe and Borno, were attacked in the early hours of Saturday.

It is suspected that the attackers used improvised explosive devices to carry out the attack.

The transmission towers are located in Kasaisa in Damaturu Local Government Area of the state.

This is the second time in three months that these towers have been destroyed, as they were previously attacked in December but were repaired in January.

The destruction of these power transmission towers has caused significant disruption to the lives of the residents in both Yobe and Borno states.

It is a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by the region and the need for increased efforts to combat these threats.

In light of this recent attack, it is crucial for the authorities to take swift action to not only repair the damaged infrastructure but also to address the root causes of such attacks.

This will help to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the affected areas and prevent further disruptions to their daily lives.
