Bandits strike Kaduna community, leaving nine residents dead

Gunmen attacked Unguwar Magaji community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday. Nine people died and eleven others sustained injuries in the assault.

Joseph Yonkpa, spokesman for the Irigwe Youth Movement, made the confirmation public. He explained that initial reports indicated only two deaths.

Recovery teams later found seven more bodies during search operations. The death toll climbed to nine as a result.

Attackers used guns during the raid, authorities said. Children were targeted with machetes in the violence.

The deceased included Jerry Doctor, Danlami Magani, Sunday Chibi, and Rita Abdullahi. Also killed were Sunday Elkan, Esther Kefas, Happy Friday, Moses Daddy, and Daddy Ibrahim.

Wounded residents included Halla Monday, Mary Yohanna, and Jummai John. Charity Danjuma, Faith Yakubu, Omi Yakubu, Ali Sandiye, Asabe Victor, Srarina Simon, Talatu Sunday, and ThankGod Danladi were also injured.

Survivors described deep trauma following the bloodshed. Residents expressed fear over their safety.

Kaduna State Police Command has remained silent on the incident. No official statement has been issued as of press time.

Bandit attacks plague communities across Kaduna State regularly. Recent months have seen multiple raids resulting in deaths and abductions.
