Bandits kill three, abduct eight in fresh attack on Sokoto village

Sokoto, Nigeria Three people were killed and eight others abducted by suspected bandits who attacked the Soro community in the Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Monday, October 2, 2023.

The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the incident and said that the bandits also set some houses on fire and injured several locals during the attack. The police spokesperson, ASP Ahmad Rufai, said that the security forces swiftly responded to the attack and repelled the bandits.

According to some sources in the village, the bandits arrived on motorcycles around 10:30 p.m. on Friday and opened fire on the residents. They also looted shops and rustled animals.

The residents appealed to the state government to provide more security and assistance to the affected communities. They also called for an end to the banditry and kidnapping that had plagued the state for a long time.
