Army Uncovers Massive Illegal Crude Oil Reservoir in Rivers State

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has made a significant discovery in its ongoing efforts to combat illegal oil bunkering.

The Garrison Commander of the Division and Sector 3 Commander of Operation Niger Delta Safe (OPDS), Brigadier General EU Effiong, announced that they have uncovered an illegal reservoir containing approximately one million liters of crude oil.

The reservoir was found in the Odagwa Etche area of Etche local government in Rivers State. According to Effiong, the suspects had relocated and re-established the site after a previous military raid in the community.

The discovery included eight reservoirs and five cooking pots filled with crude oil that was about to be boiled.

Brigadier General Effiong emphasized the military’s commitment to putting an end to illegal oil operations, stating that they will not stop until these activities are completely eradicated.

He urged those involved in oil theft to consider the long-term consequences of their actions and the negative impact on the general public.
