Army Researching on Military, Society – Commander

The Commander of the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC), Maj.-Gen. Bello Tsoho, says military institutions will focus on research that is relevant to both Military and the Nigeria society at large.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tsoho made this known on Wednesday in Ilorin at the opening of a 3-day combined conference of the Nigerian Army Education Corps held at the Sobi Cantonment.

Tsoho said that the Nigerian Army have complete tertiary institutions comprising of a Degree awarding, NCE as well as National Diploma and Higher National Diploma that can conduct good research capable of solving the problems of the country.

The NAEC commander, who said that the conference has brought together education experts in the Military to brainstorm on some identified challenges in the education sector of the army, stated that it was an opportunity to bring the eggheads together.

“This event is a combined 1st and 2nd quarter conference and it is an opportunity provided to assemble all Nigerian Army Education Corps on how to move the Military forward, how to transform Nigerian Army Education Corps.

“The conference is to provide roadmap to get solutions to some of the challenges facing the Education Corps. We are aiming at taking the Nigerian Army Education Corps to the next level.

“We are going to embark on research on anything relevant to the Nigerian military and the Nigerian society at large.

“We have tertiary institutions, Degree awarding institution, National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND),” he said.

Tsoho therefore urged the participants to work on all issues in the education blueprint that would be laid before them at the three days programme.

In his welcome address, the Provost of the Nigerian Army Institute of Science Education and Technology, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin, Maj.-Gen. Sani Ibrahim, who is hosting the conference, urged the participants to enjoy the peace and serenity of the ancient city of Ilorin.

Participants at the conference were drawn from various Nigerian Army Education institutions across the country.
