The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Senator Ned Nwoko as Chairman of the Protocol Subcommittee for its forthcoming National Convention, placing the Delta North lawmaker at the heart of planning one of the party’s most critical gatherings.

The appointment highlights the party’s renewed focus on structure, coordination, and procedural discipline as preparations intensify for the convention, a key platform for leadership decisions, policy direction, and consolidation of party unity.

As Chairman, Nwoko will oversee a strategic unit responsible for managing accreditation, dignitary coordination, ceremonial order, and strict adherence to established guidelines governing the convention’s proceedings. The Protocol Subcommittee plays a central role in ensuring seamless logistics and maintaining institutional credibility throughout the event.

He will lead a team of notable party figures, including Abba Bello (Co-Chairman), Kalifat Obama (Vice Chairman), Barr. Mary Ekpere (Secretary), and Hon. Ibori-Suenu Erhiatake (Assistant Secretary), alongside other experienced members drawn from across the party’s political structure. The composition reflects a blend of legislative experience, legal expertise, and grassroots engagement tailored to handle the complexity of a national political convention.

Beyond ceremonial duties, protocol management involves coordinating delegate accreditation, organizing seating and movement logistics for party leaders and stakeholders, and working closely with security agencies and other committees to ensure orderliness and transparency. With APC conventions typically attracting thousands of delegates, the efficiency of the subcommittee is crucial to the overall success of the exercise.

Senator Nwoko, who represents Delta North in the National Assembly, brings a combination of legal training, legislative experience, and administrative capacity to the role. His appointment is widely seen as a vote of confidence in his ability to manage a politically sensitive and logistically demanding assignment.

The upcoming APC National Convention is expected to play a decisive role in strengthening party structures and positioning the ruling party ahead of future electoral contests. As such, the performance of key committees—especially the Protocol Subcommittee—will be closely scrutinized.

With Nwoko at the helm, attention will be on the delivery of a well-coordinated convention marked by smooth accreditation, disciplined scheduling, and effective management of high-profile participants—benchmarks that will ultimately define the credibility and organizational strength of the APC.
