Anambra women Rotarians visit Awka children’s home

The Anambra Women in Rotary (WIR), District 9142, on Saturday visited the Model Community Children’s Home in Awka, in line with its yearly charity work to humanity.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visit to the home, with over 77 children is part of its activities to end the Rotary International service Synergizer year 2022/2023.

Leader of the team, Mrs Ngozi Mbachi, said that the Rotary service for 2022/2023 Synergizer year would be rounded up by June 30.

She said as part of activities to end the year, WIR in Anambra gave a parting gift of N40,000 to the management of the home as inmate welfare support.

Mbachi urged them not to relent in their good watch over the children, saying WIR in Anambra were playing a big role in giving the children’s lives a great meaning and saving the society from unplanned distress.

“I thank you for the education, feeling of social belonging, basic morals and values being transferred  into the lives of these bundles of joy,” she said.

Also speaking, Dr Maudlin Ohuoha, President of Rotary Club of Awka Central, said that WIR in Anambra decided to extend their hands of fellowship to the children to end the year fulfilled.

Ohuoha said Rotary International was an orgainsation that prides itself in humanitarian services based on its principle.

Mrs Ngozi Nworji-Ekeh and Mrs Ifunanya Okeke, members of WIR in Anambra, respectively commended the management of the home for the healthy environment in which they are raising the children.

Sending her love to the the children and management, the District Governor of Rotary International, District 9142, Mrs Grace Okaro, assured that Rotary International would continue to render good services to humanity even as her service as the District Governor, D9142, ends on June 30.

In her response, the Manager of the home, Mrs Precious Asiegbu, appreciated the team for the visit and assured that everything sent to the home would be used rightly for the upkeep of the children.
