Tobi Amusan claimed gold at the New Taipei Athletics Open in Taiwan on Sunday. The Nigerian sprinter dominated the women's 100m hurdles final with a commanding performance.
Amusan's time of 12.72 seconds shattered the meeting record. She erased the previous mark of 12.80 seconds set by American Nia last year.
Bo Ya Zhang and Yi Po-An, both Taiwan athletes, finished behind her. Amusan controlled the race after the fourth hurdle and crossed the line with ease.
Fans cheered as other competitors strained to match her pace. She breezed through the qualifiers without breaking a sweat.
This marks her second consecutive gold medal this season. Two weeks ago, she won at the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco.
The 29-year-old has been in exceptional form lately. She's finished in the top two positions across her last three races, winning twice.
Amusan's next assignment comes on July 4 in Eugene, Oregon. She'll compete at the Prefontaine Classic, where she set her world record of 12.12 seconds in 2022.
