Ambode Refrains from Blaming Tinubu, Appeals for Nigerians’ Support

In an event hosted by the Akinjide Adeosun Foundation (AAF), former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode discussed the current economic challenges faced by Nigeria and the need for authentic leadership in times of crisis.

The event, the 2024 Leadership Colloquium and Award: Chapter 8, focused on the theme “Economic Asphyxiation – The wisdom of Authentic Leaders.”

Ambode emphasized that the current hardship in the nation did not begin with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He said that Nigeria’s problems have a long history and require a courageous President like Tinubu to fix them frontally.

The former governor urged Nigerians to stop the blame game and be supportive, resilient, and patriotic about the country.

He explained that Nigeria needs a self-awareness strategy to address the issues in the post-COVID-19 era. “We must think out of the box.

We have to feed ourselves,” Ambode added.

He also emphasized the importance of authentic leadership and the need for leaders to show empathy and provide hope to the people.

The event also featured discussions on strategies to navigate the difficult times that Nigerians are facing, the importance of good mental health, and the role of technology in driving positive changes in health, education, and security.

Microsoft Country Managing Director (Nigeria and Ghana), Ola Williams, highlighted the potential of AI in boosting global GDP and providing new job opportunities.

Pastor Taiwo Odukoya was posthumously awarded the 2024 AAF Award for his efforts in providing hope for the lost.

His daughter, Toluwani Odukoya, received the award on his behalf.
