Police operatives have freed the younger sibling of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu from captivity. Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were rescued on Saturday.

The abduction happened on June 3, 2026, around 7:30 a.m. The three were heading to school when gunmen struck.

Officers engaged the kidnappers in a fierce firefight during the rescue operation. Two suspects were killed in the exchange of gunfire.

Police recovered two weapons from the criminals. All three victims came out of the ordeal alive.

According to sources within the force, intelligence work and sustained tactical operations pushed the gang into direct confrontation. This strategic pressure ultimately forced their hand and enabled the rescue.

Security teams are still searching surrounding areas for other gang members. Some of the fleeing suspects reportedly sustained gunshot wounds during the clash.

Operatives continue sweeping the region to track down remaining members of the kidnapping ring. The operation is still ongoing as of Saturday evening.
