Abandoned NDDC projects, EDP orders contractors back to site

The Executive Director Projects (EDP), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC),  Engr. Samuel Adjogbe have ordered contractors handling NDDC various projects in Warri South West and  Warri North LGA, and other parts of Delta State to go back to site or be prepare to face the wrath of the law.

Engr. Adjogbe stated that it will no longer be business as usual because the Commission will no longer treat lightly situations where contractors after been mobilised will abandoned the projects thereby frustrating government’s effort to improving the infrastructure in the Niger Delta region.

 

The EDP stated this at his office, NDDC Headquarter, Port Harcourt, in a meeting with a group; Niger Delta Coalition for Sustainable Development (NDCSD) ordered that contractors handling the Koko Ogheye Road, Ugborodo and Koko shoreline protection projects must move back to site and complete them.

 

According to him, “all contractors who have been mobilised must with a sense of urgency, return to site and commence work. The long arm of the law is set to catch up with all erring contractors as the vision of the NDDC must be accomplished. It shall no longer be business as usual.”

 

Speaking earlier, the leader of the group, Ambassador Young Piero stated that the failure of the contractors engaged in the these projects has not only occasioned hardship amongst residents in the affected areas but have also triggered restiveness and poor living amongst youths within the Niger-Delta region.

 

Ambassador Young while commending Engr Adjogbe for the warm reception and his assurances of the new board effort to ensure sustainable development of region; added that his group will continue to support the new board to ensure that their visions for the region are actualized.
