Inauguration: Police enjoin citizens to be law-abiding in Ebonyi

By Christian Ogbonna

The Police command in Ebonyi has enjoined members of the public to be law-abiding and shun disorderliness during and after May 29 inauguration for the new government in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Faleye Olaleye, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abakaliki, urged the citizens to cooperate with the security agencies to achieve a hitch-free inauguration ceremony.

The statement was issued by SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Spokesperson of the command.

Olaleye assured that the personnel of the command were prepared and committed to the protection of lives and property.

According to the commissioner, measures have been put in place to protect lives and property of the citizens during and after the inauguration on May 29.

“We are ready to ensure security and we will not tolerate any form of protest and I urge you to be law-abiding.

“Members of political parties should avoid violence and have confidence in the court and as such, they should wait for the outcome of the tribunal verdict on the cases already in court,” he added.

Olaleye warned that the police would not hesitate to deal decisively with any person(s) or group of persons, who deliberately caused breakdown of law and order.

“Those culpable will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law as Police operatives have been deployed strategically and directed to ensure full enforcement.

“Be law-abiding, shun all forms of violence and cooperate with the security agencies as measures have been put in place to protect lives and property,” the Commissioner advised.
