EPF Elders, Leaders Council pass vote of confidence on Emehor’s leadership

…Supports Emerhor/Omo-Agege working relationship

By Ovasa Ogaga,

Delta Central Elders and Leaders Council of the Emerhor Political Family (EPF) weekend passed a vote of implicit confidence on Olorogun O’tega Emerhor as leader of the EPF and his move with other leaders to strengthen APC in Delta State.

The group in a communique after an emergency meeting in Ughelli held to elect a new chairman after its former Chairman, Chief Sylvester Kohwo was expelled following his defection to PDP, called for unity amongst APC stakeholders in Delta in order to achieve their desired goal come 2023.

Meanwhile, the founding leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, assured Delta Central Elders and Leaders Council of Emerhor Political Family (EPF) that Delta APC was working assiduously to cement the perceived crack in the party ahead of 2023 elections.

Olorogun Emerhor gave the assurance when the newly elected chairman of EPF Elders and Leaders Council, Chief Dr. Martins Ohwevwo JP, the Executive and other members visited him at his Evwerni country home on Saturday.

The 2015 APC governorship candidate in Delta State said the decision of EPF to team up with the Deputy Senate President; Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in the quest to recuse Delta from the PDP years of maladministration was the best for the party if the party desires to win Delta come 2023.

He also noted that the leadership of the party is not unmindful of the need for greater unity and genuine reconciliation in Delta APC, stressing that the struggle to rescue Delta state must be a collective one, and as such, all well-meaning party leaders and faithful must put the party’s interest above personnel interest.

According to him, “we are not against anybody who feels that APC cannot accommodate his interest from moving, what we are against is using EPF to up your asking price; by the grace of God, I am the leader of EPF, and if EPF wants to join PDP, I should be the one to speak or bring the suggestion.

“Our focus is to remove PDP from Asaba, and that has not changed, the two persons who want to drag EPF into their unholy alliance knows this, so we will not allow them to be used as a puppet to truncate that plan because of the benefit they want to get individually.

“So, if they are moving as individuals, they have no right to trade with our name, they can’t promote themselves as EPF to hick up their price, that was very wrong. I told them that the PDP train is full and that we can build APC together.

“And EPF decision to support DSP Ovie Omo-Agege is because he is our best bet to get to Government House Asaba and nobody in APC has been able to counter that position, we have seen him fight politically in this state.

“When people never gave him a fighting chance, we saw him fighting himself into that position and we believe that if we collectively support him, we will win, in Urhobo, it’s a strongman that you sent to war and a child who can deliver is the one you send an errand.”

He, therefore, charged EPF Elders and Leaders Council and other APC faithful to be patient and remain steadfast as the leaders of the party are working behind the scenes to reposition the party in order to deliver the desired electorial victory come 2023.

Recall, that Delta Central EPF Elders and Leaders Council had on January 21 2022, elected Chief Dr. Martins Ohwevwo JP as the new Chairman of the Council and also affirmed their support for Olorogun Emerhor’s decision to bring EPF into a close working relationship with the Deputy Senate President; Senator Ovie Omo Agege as the desired route to strengthen the APC in Delta State.

The communique read thus; “A vote of implicit confidence was passed on Olorogun O’tega Emerhor as Leader of the EPF.

“The decision of the leader to bring EPF into a close working relationship with the Deputy Senate President; Senator Ovie Omo Agege was strongly affirmed as the desired route to strengthen the APC in Delta State.

“The Council called on all APC Stakeholders to come together and bury their differences to enable APC to achieve the desired goal of bringing good governance to Deltans, while ensuring that PDP’s 24years reign of terror and ineptitude comes to an end.

“The Council reviewed the matter of its Chairman, Chief Sylvester GO Kohwo along with a few others who have decided to hobnob with the PDP. The Council, thereafter, resolved to remove the Chairman and expel him and those few members who are implicated with him from the EPF.

“The Council, thereafter, proceeded to elect Chief Dr. Martins Ohwevwo JP as the new Chairman of the Council effective January 21, 2022.

“The Council called on all EPF members and all Delta APC members to be steadfast and remain focused towards the 2023 general election when PDP will be chased out of the Government house.

“The Council resolved to present the new Chairman and other Executive members to the Leader of EPF at 2 pm tomorrow Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Evwreni.
