100 Days in Office: Ukwuani Council Boss assures of more developments

The Chairman of Ukwani Local Government Council, CSP Ajede Possible has assured the people of the local government of more life-changing projects.

The chairman stated this in an interactive session/stakeholders briefing with the representatives of the people of Ukwuani, to intimate them of the achievements of his administration since inception.

Bar. Ajede stressed that his administration has been keeping to its mandate to the people by strategically initiating and executing programmes and projects that impact the people, adding that as a council boss, he has been carrying everyone along.

He said the interactive session became necessary to enlighten the people face to face on their achievements so far, pointing that his administration was not the type that announces most of its achievements.

“This government is a grassroot government and having understood the position I am occupying, I can boldly say that it’s a government of the people and when you want to interact with the people, it’s the grassroot you go to and interact with the people, as my aim is to intimate them of what my administration has done, ask them questions to know their challenges and how we can position ourselves to ensure that our people gets the dividends of democracy which we have promised our them,” CSP Ajede.

He listed out all the projects embarked upon by his administration within a period of 8 months in office and the efforts put in place to ensure that the projects were completed and commissioned as a way of marking his 100 days in office as the Council Chairman.

Some of the projects listed include upgrading of Obi -Obeti Market, facility upgrade of Ethiope Primary School with face-lift of two blocks of classrooms including office blocks, construction of five culverts for Ezionum farmers leading to their farm roads.

Others include the distribution of palliatives to over 1000 farmers of waterside communities to cushion the effects of hunger inflicted on them by Fulani Herdsmen invasion of their farmlands and free extra-moral tuitions for secondary and primary school students/pupils holidays periods to boost their academic performance during resumption.

Others are the renovation of the office of the council Chairman, purchase of official cars for management staff of the Council that was lacking, an ongoing teen mentoring programme in consultation with NYSC and Department of Education and the lunching of an Enterprise Development Programme and the appointment of a DG to steer Micro Enterprise Programme in Ukwuani LGA amongst other projects.

In their reaction, through Chief Omorege of Obiaruku community, the people of Ukwuani commended the council chairman for his deeming it necessary to call for the stakeholders’ interaction and for developmental strides, saying they have never had it in this fashion since the local government was created.
