Delta new COVID-19 patient died on April 25th at Udu, while awaiting test result

Delta State 7th COVID-19 patient whose case was announced by the Nigeria Center for Diseases Control, NCDC, on Tuesday, died on Saturday, April 25th, at Udu, near Warri, while awaiting his test result, a family source told ADVOCATE.

It was gathered that the patient had presented himself at one of the Isolation Center in Delta but he was asked to go home after his blood samples were taken against the guideline for the management of COVID19 cases by NCDC.

According to reliable sources, the deceased presented himself at the isolation centre in Warri Central Hospital and was asked to go home after NCDC officials collected his sample against.

Governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had on Tuesday in a state broadcast disclosed that two COVID-19 patients have recovered and tested negative to the virus and have been discharged, without making reference to the dead patient.

Few hours after the governor’s broadcast, NCDC confirmed the new case of Coronavirus in the state bringing the total number of cases to 7, with two deaths, two discharged and other three responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, upon receipt of the result, the State Taskforce on COVID-19 contacted the family of the deceased and they were told the patient had died since Saturday, April 25, 2020, while awaiting the test result from Irrua Specialist Hospital, Edo State.
