Ochor hails emergence of Okowa as Chairman, South South Governors Forum

Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor hails the emergence of the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the Chairman of the South South Governors Forum, saying that it’s a welcome development for the region.

The Deputy Speaker in a statement, signed by his Press Secretary, Emmanuel Enebeli, stated that the emergence of Senator Okowa as chairman of the forum will help to bring unity among the governors of the region, which will further attract economic and political integration of the states.

He stated that the choice of the Delta governor was not a mistake, as he has in several occasions stepped in to mediate and bring unity among members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the country and have always preached peace amongst communities in Delta State.

He stated further that with the governors’ vast experience in governance and politics, which he will bring to bear amongst his colleagues, it’s expected that the noticed fragmentation among the states of south-south will be cemented, especially with daily security threat in the country.

Rt. Hon Ochor pointed out that one of the skills of Governor Okowa is his team leadership quality, which is a key factor in any organization.

“The Emergence of His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the Chairman of the South South Governors Forum, after the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Serike Dickson is a welcome one. Of recent we in the south, had felt the need to work more to be united, especially with the daily threat and fear of insecurity in the country”.

“Governor Okowa I know will use his vast knowledge in administration to rally the governors of the region for economic and security integration. As a team player, I know he will not disappoint the people of the Niger Delta Region.”

“I congratulate him for the new position. He had in the past stepped in to solve problems in our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, he had being mediating peace in communities in the state, and had passion to ensure Nigerians live in peace always and I know he will also do so for the people of this region with this new office.”
