Patani Agenda Group: A Failing Plot from the Start
By Chancel Bomadi Sunday
The race for the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections has kicked off with familiar faces — perennial contestants who have faced repeated rejection from the people. At the forefront of this renewed onslaught is the so-called “Patani Agenda Group for 2027,” a propaganda-driven outfit whose major pastime has been hurling insults at the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, across social media platforms.
This group, now desperately seeking to sway Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other political authorities into their schemes, is reportedly pushing for Mutu’s removal through influence rather than the ballot box — a move many observers have described as both futile and undemocratic. Their baseless rants and misinformation online have already exposed their campaign as a failure from inception.

Leading the charge is Hon. Basil Ganagana, a five-time contender for the Bomadi/Patani seat and leader of the Delta Unity Group (DUG) in Patani Local Government Area — the same structure that backed Dr. David Edevbie against Oborevwori in 2023. Ganagana, now gearing up for a sixth attempt, is joined by other recurring aspirants like Dr. Chris Ekiyor, who once opposed Mutu and supported Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in 2023, and Dr. Louis Otuisi, nephew of former Deputy Governor, Dr. Kingsley Otuaro, who also campaigned against Oborevwori during the last elections.
Ironically, Hon. Mutu was among those who stood firmly behind Governor Oborevwori’s emergence and victory at the polls. Now, these same individuals — serial aspirants with histories of political misjudgment — are allegedly lobbying to drag the governor into their local feud, urging him to stop Mutu from recontesting in 2027.
Such antics, according to political watchers, are laughable and amount to “political blackmail.” “Governor Oborevwori is too discerning to fall for such tricks,” one analyst observed. “The people of Bomadi/Patani have consistently chosen their representative through the ballot, not backroom conspiracies.”
Equally troubling is the financing of certain media outlets to spread falsehoods, character assassination, and slander against the lawmaker — a desperate attempt by the group and its sponsors to remain politically relevant.
“These Patani serial contestants have contested against Hon. Mutu several times and have been consistently rejected by the people,” said a party insider. “Their current voyage is nothing but self-deception.”
For the people of Bomadi/Patani, Mutu’s enduring popularity, performance, philanthropy, and goodwill remain unmatched. His consistency and connection with the grassroots have earned him sustained support — a record his detractors cannot erase with propaganda.
