Court remands trader for allegedly defiling neighbour’s daughter

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday ordered the remand of a 39-year-old trader, Salisu Abubakar in a correction centre for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s eight -year-old daughter.

The police charged Abubakar who lives in Ungwan Sarki Kaduna is being tried for defilement.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, did not take the plea of Abubakar for want in jurisdiction.

Emmanuel held that the remand is pending legal advice from the office of the Kaduna State Ministry of Justice.

He adjourned the matter until Aug. 16, for hearing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the offence was committed in Abubakar’s residence.

Leo said that the defendant invited his victim, who happened to be his neighbour ‘s daughter, into his room.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 206 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
