Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Elder Godsday Orubebe and former PDP leaders from Gbaramatu

PDP loses key leaders, as hundreds defect to APC in Gbaramatu Kingdom

Barely 4 days to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Delta State continue to lose its key leaders to the All Progressives Congress, APC, thereby throwing the party into panic mode.

Advocate.ng reports that between Saturday till Monday, February 20, 2023 hundreds of PDP stakeholders and leaders, along with their supporters from Kunukunuma, Pepperama and Azama in Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West LGA defected from the PDP to the APC.

The leaders and hundreds of their followers, gathered in Warri yesterday where they declared their intention to join the APC and they were received by the Director-General of the Governorship Campaign Council, Elder Godsday Orubebe on behalf of the party.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Elder Bello Odibo, expressed their dissatisfaction with the PDP, adding that the people of Warri South West LGA have nothing to show for the past eight years of PDP administration in the State.

Elder Odibo stated that it was time to change the narrative as they could no longer continue to support a party that has not the interest of the masses.

The former PDP leader expressed his commitment and that of their supporters to work assiduously for a total victory for the APC, promising to deliver the party 5/5 in Warri South West in the Presidential and Governorship elections.

Receiving the decampees in Warri yesterday, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Elder Godsday Orubebe, thanked them profusely for their choice to join the APC, assuring them that they stand to benefit from the rights and privileges being enjoyed by older members of the party.

Orubebe told the joinders that Deltans were tired of the wasteful and fraudulent PDP government led by Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the past eight years, adding that with over N4 trillion revenue that has so far accrued to the State, there is nothing on the ground that is commensurate to the money received.

The DG assured the new members that an APC government in the State will surely usher in a new Delta State that will provide massive employment, good infrastructure and a buoyant economy, pointing out that the riverine area which is the goose that lays the golden egg, will receive the greatest attention.

He encouraged the new members to reach out to their friends and relatives who are still groping in the PDP darkness to come to join the APC which, according to him, is the party of light for a new Delta State.

Orubebe stated that the APC governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, is well equipped and prepared to bring about a new Delta State that will be like the current Lagos State with infrastructural development, employment, good education, power, good health facilities and social welfare for Deltans.

He further assured that Omo-Agege has a lot in his planned EDGE programme to transform the riverine communities of Ijaws, Itsekiris and other places for the total transformation of their areas.

Among the leaders that decamped with hundreds of their followers include; Elder Bello Odibo, Hon. Donkumor Aru, Doutimi Aruwei, Endurance Odu, Penawei Okirika and Jeremiah Nafami; others include Ebiemi Odibo, French Otusani, Peter Aruwei and Oloye Okirika.

Party leaders with the DG at the event were the Director of Contact and Mobilization of the Campaign Council, Barr. Bosom Ebikeme, among other party stalwarts.
