Kalu Lauds Akpabio for Support in Passing South East Development Commission Bill

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, expressed gratitude to Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for his support in the passage of the South East Development Commission Bill through its third reading in the Senate.
Kalu, who spoke at a homecoming reception for Senator Akpabio in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, highlighted the bill’s significance in healing the wounds of the Nigerian civil war.
Kalu, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, also praised Akpabio for supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He emphasized Akpabio’s leadership style, which has fostered a remarkable synergy between the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Kalu commended Akpabio’s support for the bill, noting that it will address the long-standing need for reconciliation and rehabilitation in the Southeast, a region that has not fully recovered from the civil war’s aftermath.
Kalu expressed hope that President Tinubu will sign the bill, which he believes will bring peace and answers to the Southeastern people.
The Deputy Speaker lauded Akpabio for his genuine and sincere support for President Tinubu, emphasizing the unity and shared national objectives between the three arms of government.
The passage of the South East Development Commission Bill marks a significant step towards addressing the region’s historical grievances and fostering economic development, infrastructural improvements, and environmental protection.
