Zamfara State has handed over five armoured personnel carriers to the police force.

Deputy Chief of Staff Nura Almajiri presented the vehicles at Government House in Gusau on Governor Dauda Lawal's behalf.

Police Commissioner Ahmad Muhammad Bello received the APCs on Thursday. He said they'll help combat crime and protect communities across the state.

The armoured carriers will boost operations against armed bandits. Security agencies plan to use them intensively in troubled areas.

Bello assured residents the police remain committed to protecting lives. He noted that all security agencies would coordinate efforts to counter emerging threats.

According to the commissioner, farmers need safe access to their farmlands. "The equipment strengthens our capacity to provide that security," he told reporters.

Bello urged citizens to share credible intelligence with police. Such information, he said, proves vital in suppressing banditry operations.

Zamfara's government stressed that security ranks as a top priority. Officials confirmed the state will continue backing security agencies with resources.

The donation reflects growing pressure to address banditry in the northwest. Residents have faced years of attacks and kidnappings by armed groups.

State authorities say the APCs represent fresh commitment to ending insecurity. Communities hope the vehicles will enable faster police response to threats.
