Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has named fresh leadership for Kano State's sports administration. The moves target youth development and improved athletic performance across the state.

Spokesman Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa announced the appointments on Thursday. Both the Sports Commission and Kano Pillars Football Club received new boards.

Alhaji Tukur Babangida takes over as chairman of the Sports Commission. His team brings representatives from local government, disability advocates, and youth affairs.

Ibrahim Abba and Auwal Surajo also join the commission's ranks. Alhaji Balarabe Surajo represents the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria.

Sunusi Ismail rounds out the core membership. Sani Musa Danja serves as Special Adviser on Youth Affairs, while Bashir Maizare handles secretarial duties.

At Kano Pillars, Ahmad Musbahu emerged as the new board chairman. Veterans like Abba Galadima bring decades of football administration experience to the role.

The board includes Sharu Inuwa Rabiu and Fatima Ibrahim Abubakar among others. Notably, former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa joined as Sports Ambassador.

Bashir Idris, Abubakar Isa Dandago, and Salisu Muhammad Kosawa complete the management structure. Jamilu Tijani Yamadawa, chairman of the Pillars Fans Club, also secured a position.

Engineers Usman Mustapha K/Na'isa, along with Murtala Umar and Kabiru Usman, rounded out appointments. Governor Yusuf wants these leaders to restore Kano Pillars' former glory.

According to the statement, the governor urged appointees to leverage their skills wisely. He emphasized identifying and developing young talent across the state's sports sector.

Yusuf expressed confidence in both newly formed bodies. He believes they'll usher in professionalism and excellence in Kano's sporting landscape.

The appointments signal the administration's commitment to repositioning sports development. Youth advancement remains central to the governor's broader vision for the state.
