Governor Abba Yusuf picked Murtala Sule Garo as his deputy based on experience and proven dedication to Kano. His spokesperson, Mustapha Muhammad, released a statement defending the selection process.
According to the governor, Garo stood out after a thorough review of numerous candidates for the position. He noted that past performance, competence, and ability to drive development shaped the final decision.
Yusuf made the remarks during the 39th Executive Council gathering at Government House on Thursday. He stressed the need for a deputy capable of backing the administration's growth agenda.
Former deputy governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo resigned from office last week. Garo's name went to the State House of Assembly immediately after.
Lawmakers, led by Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, screened and confirmed him without delay. The governor commended the Assembly for its swift handling of the matter.
He promised that Garo would take the oath of office soon. Citizens should rally behind him, Yusuf urged.
In related news, the governor congratulated the newly appointed Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota. He acknowledged her contributions in previous assignments within government.
Yusuf called on public servants and stakeholders to support Maimota in her fresh role. Her experience, he said, would benefit the state's civil service.
