A Gender Rights Advocate, Mrs Member Adiguve, said women’s  participation in politics will enhance tangible democratic gains and greater responsiveness to citizen’s needs.

Adiguve stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.

She said that women’s participation in politics, would also lead to increased cooperation across party and ethnic lines.

Adiguve said that the need for more women in political leadership roles has never been more critical.

“The need for more women in political leadership roles had never been more critical. There is a never- ending catalogue of data to support the claim. Politics is business.

“Women Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) make up 6.4 per cent of the Fortune 500 list in America.

“The companies that boast a higher representation of women on their boards, notably outperform the organisation that don’t,” She said.

Adiguve said that women needed support to step forward and overcome the habits holding them back.

She encouraged women in leadership to “ignite their impact” evolve in confidence, grow mind-set as well as networking.

Adiguve urged female who are already in leadership role or aspiring, to elevate their political careers to reach the heights of their aspirations.

She advised women to seek both men and women as connections and mentors who would help them along their political paths.

Adiguve called on women to surmount the challenges on their political careers, by changing their visions, work hard to exceed goals and showcase why they shouldn’t be overlooked.
