Women Affairs Minister Criticizes NLC Protest: A Call for Constructive Action

In Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, expressed strong criticism of the recent nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over the country’s economic hardship.

The minister described the protest as “unnecessary” and “a mere distraction” to the federal government.

Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized that Nigeria needs to focus on constructive ways to address its challenges and not resort to protests or industrial action.

She called for a more effective approach, stating, “If you do things without the end result, what is it for?” The minister urged people to come out “bold and clear with what we want.”

The Women Affairs Minister also announced that President Bola Tinubu will unveil a new program called “PBAT cares for Nigerian women” on March 7, aimed at empowering women in the country.

Kennedy-Ohanenye is also establishing an “Integrity Brigade,” which will ensure that funds sourced by NGOs for women and children are used for their intended purpose.

Additionally, the president has endorsed a mobile court to address minor issues of violence against women and children.

The Integrity Brigade will ensure that the federal government remains focused on delivering good governance to its citizens.

The Women Affairs Minister’s remarks highlight the need for Nigeria to adopt a more constructive and focused approach in tackling its challenges, rather than relying on protests and industrial actions.
