What caused my marriage to fail – Angela Okorie

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has opened up about why she left her former husband, Chukwuma Orizu, saying she “lost the love.”

The mother of one said she got fed up with marriage because of the pressure from her husband’s relatives, who kept telling her to stop entertainment.

Okorie spoke in a recent podcast interview hosted by her colleague, Iyabo Ojo.

She said, “I don’t think anyone should stay in a marriage when they don’t love the man. I believe that’s why many women cheat. In this Lekki, you have a lot of women who are unfaithful in their marriages.

“For me, I lost the love. The man [my ex-husband] was a nice man. I lost love because of what his family was doing. The family didn’t want me to act anymore. They didn’t want me to do anything related to acting. They were like, ‘If you want me to marry you, you’ll quit entertainment.’ And I was like, ‘Even my mom can’t stop me. That’s my life. Do you know how long it took me?’

“He [my ex-husband] was supporting me. He didn’t stress me, but because of the whole drama, it was like I was in a place where the people didn’t get my vision. They didn’t get what I was pursuing. You need to pursue it with me. This is what your wife wants. You can’t destroy my dream. This is why I’ve worked for so many years to get here. So, you can’t just say, “Because you want to marry me, give up on your dreams.
