The Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative has expressed concern over recent remarks attributed to Mr. Ayiri Emami, a prominent Itsekiri son, regarding issues affecting the Ugborodo community and the traditional authority of the Olu of Warri.
According to the group, the remarks, which touched on the administrative relationship between the Ugborodo community and the Warri palace, have generated anxiety among residents and heightened tensions within the area. The women noted that such statements, in their view, have the potential to undermine unity and respect for established traditional institutions in the Iwere Kingdom.
Speaking during a peaceful protest, the President of the group, Mrs. Vivian Mene, said the women were calling on palace chiefs and relevant stakeholders to intervene by advising all parties to exercise restraint and caution in their public utterances, in the interest of peace and stability.
The group also appealed to the Federal and Delta State governments to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the recent incidents of violence and destruction of property reported in Ogidigben community, stressing the need for justice and lasting peace.
They reaffirmed their loyalty and confidence in the Olu of Warri, pledging continued support for his leadership and emphasising the importance of harmony, dialogue, and respect for traditional authority across the Warri Kingdom.
