The Board of Trustees of the Urhobo Leadership Forum (ULF), Abuja, has commended Senator Ede Dafinone for what it described as his pragmatic leadership and impactful representation of Delta Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

Led by its Chairman, His Excellency Ambassador Brownson Dede, the Board lauded the Senator as a committed, accessible and principled legislator whose contributions in the Red Chamber have consistently advanced the collective interests of the Urhobo nation.

The Forum specifically applauded Senator Dafinone’s firm stance on critical Urhobo matters and his effectiveness in legislative engagements. Among the achievements highlighted was his intervention that facilitated the release of the Ovie of Ewu, an action the Board described as timely, courageous and reflective of responsible leadership. His open-door policy and sustained engagement with constituents, including regular Meet-and-Greet forums, were also commended.

The Board called on prominent sons and daughters of Urhobo land to rally behind Senator Dafinone at all levels of governance, stressing that sustained unity and collective support are vital to achieving enduring development across Urhobo communities.

At the meeting, the Forum briefed the Senator on preparations for a proposed Urhobo National Summit aimed at drawing national attention to the development needs and strategic importance of Urhobo land. The delegation also sought his support for an amendment to the law establishing the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun, to broaden its mandate beyond petroleum-related disciplines.

Responding, Senator Dafinone expressed appreciation to the delegation, which included Olorogun Peter Igho, Professor Vremudia Diejomaoh and Okakuro Bright Igbako, and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the advancement of the Urhobo nation through policies and initiatives that promote education, infrastructure and economic growth.

He further disclosed that discussions at the meeting covered the revitalisation of the Sapele Port, which he identified as a critical economic priority. According to the Senator, funding for the first phase of the port’s rehabilitation has already been secured in the 2025 national budget through the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, underscoring his resolve to drive sustainable development across Urhobo land.
