Gunmen attacked Dorowa Babuje community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday afternoon, killing two residents in the latest strike on the volatile area. The assailants opened fire around 1 p.m., sending residents fleeing in panic.
Alfred Bitrus, a community member, said the gunmen arrived without warning as villagers went about their daily routines. He told reporters the attackers shot dead two people before escaping the scene.
Rwang Tengwong, publicity secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders, condemned the assault as tragic and senseless. He expressed alarm that violence continues to plague the vulnerable communities of Plateau State despite repeated attacks.
Tengwong called on security agencies to do more to catch those responsible for the killings. He urged both the federal government and Plateau State Government to act decisively and restore safety across the state.
The community has endured repeated violence in recent months. Ten people died in coordinated attacks on the same area in February, an incident that sparked outrage locally and nationally.
Security officials did not respond to requests for comment by the time of publication.
