UNIZIK staff faces suspension for degree result fraud and forgery

A staff member of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nwafor Osborne Ogbonnaya, has been suspended by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone, for allegedly presenting a fake and forged degree result to the university.

Nwafor, who worked as an administrative officer, was accused of abandoning his undergraduate programme and forging a university statement of result and a letter of exclusion from the NYSC to secure employment at the institution. He later completed his degree programme and requested to change his result.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor (Public Relations and Special Duties), Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, the request raised suspicion as the new result had a different name, Nwafor Ogbonnaya Nwesuzor, and a different class of degree. Further investigation revealed that Nwafor had forged his degree result and letter of exclusion from the NYSC, as the original result with the name Nwafor Ogbonnaya Nwesuzor had a third class, while the forged result with the name Nwafor Osborne Ogbonnaya had a second-class lower division.

Dr. Ojukwu stated that the Vice Chancellor, acting on the university rules and regulations, approved the immediate suspension of Nwafor from the university service for six months, pending further action on his case.
