UN Launches $4.2 Billion Appeal for Ukraine Aid in 2024

The United Nations has announced a $4.2 billion appeal to provide humanitarian aid in Ukraine and to refugees who have fled the country in 2024.

The UN hopes to reach 8.5 million people within Ukraine and 2.3 million refugees and their host communities in eastern Europe.

The UN’s Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, stressed the importance of maintaining support for Ukraine, despite competing crises around the world.

He urged people not to forget Ukraine while there are many other places in the world which grab our attention.

The $4.2 billion appeal comes as Russia’s war in Ukraine is set to enter its third year in February 2024. The UN said it was vital to maintain support for the millions whose lives have been overturned by the conflict.

The UN’s appeal for aid in Ukraine comes at a time when the world’s attention is focused on other crises, such as the conflict in Gaza.

However, the UN stressed that the situation in Ukraine remains dire and that millions of people are in need of help.

The $4.2 billion appeal will help to provide food, shelter, and medical assistance to those in need in Ukraine and to refugees who have fled the country.

The UN hopes to reach millions of people and make a real difference in their lives.
