The All Progressives Congress has set up a powerful national campaign structure for Ekiti's upcoming gubernatorial race. Kaduna Governor Uba Sani will lead the council as chairman.
Party officials announced the appointments on April 24, 2026. The election itself is scheduled for June 20, according to INEC.
Sani received the position from the APC National Secretariat at its headquarters in Abuja. The council brings together senior party figures from across Nigeria's political landscape.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio will serve as vice chairman, APC National Secretary Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru confirmed in writing. He noted that the council includes governors and federal lawmakers.
Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas is among the members. So is the President's Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Seven governors sit on the council: Hope Uzodimma, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Babagana Zulum, Dapo Abiodun, Ahmed Aliyu, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Former Ekiti governor Kayode Fayemi also made the list.
Ex-governor Yahaya Bello was included as well. Three ministers rounded out the membership—Dele Alake, Sunday Dare, and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Beyond the main council, the APC created five specialized committees. They'll handle election planning, finances, media outreach, security, and youth mobilization.
Party insiders say the council's size reflects how seriously the APC takes this election. They view it as a show of confidence in Sani's political strength.
The broad coalition will coordinate all campaign activities before voters go to the polls. Officials expect the structure to help the party's chances in Ekiti.
