Tinubu’s Presidency will bring unprecedented development to Niger Delta – VP Shettima

The president’s pledge to develop the Niger Delta and the rest of Nigeria was reaffirmed by Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.

Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the final rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship election in Bayelsa State on Saturday, Senator Shettima said that the Tinubu administration had a special regard for Bayelsa State, as well as every other state in the country.

The Vice President disclosed that the President had a comprehensive plan to transform the Niger Delta and all parts of Nigeria in terms of infrastructure, technology, education, and resource utilisation, and that the plan was being implemented gradually.

According to a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Shettima said:

“Our President is a visionary leader who has the determination and passion to make Nigeria a great nation. He is unwavering and in a hurry to ensure the rapid development of the Niger Delta and all other regions of the country.

“What he needs from us is our support and loyalty for him to succeed. This is why all Bayelsans must come out on Saturday and vote for our party and candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, who is one of you and known for his excellence.

“It is time for the people of Bayelsa State to join the government at the centre. The opportunity is here, and the time is now,” VP Shettima stated.

The APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, also spoke at the event, describing Sylva as a seasoned technocrat and politician who was committed to transforming and redefining the political, economic, and developmental landscape of Bayelsa State.

The APC candidate, Chief Sylva, said that his track record of excellence and service showed that his blueprint was carefully designed to revamp the fortunes of Bayelsa State.

Sylva, who promised transparent utilisation of the state’s resources, said that when elected, every part of the state would witness a transformation never seen before and that the participation of the people and communities in governance would be enhanced.

The Vice President was received on arrival in the state by the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, and some members of the Bayelsa State Executive Council.

He later paid homage to the Chairman of Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers’ Council and Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama Kingdom in Yenagoa’s local government area, King Bubaraye Dakolo, accompanied by Chief Sylva.

Some of the dignitaries who accompanied the Vice President were the APC National Chairman; APC National Secretary, Senator Jibola Bashiru; Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni; Gombe State Governor, Alh Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya; APC Deputy National Chairman, Alh. Bukar Dalori; Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali; and former Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, among others.
