Tinubu’s Economic Reforms: A Path to National Transformation – Alake

In a statement from Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, the potential for President Bola Tinubu to transform Nigeria in the same way he transformed Lagos State is highlighted.

Alake expressed confidence in the President’s ability to revamp the nation’s economy and put it on a path of sustainable growth, despite the current economic hardship.

According to Alake, Nigeria is currently going through a “gestation period” of economic restructuring and reforms.

He cited President Tinubu’s track record of changing the economic tides of a region, just as he did when he was the governor of Lagos State.

Alake pointed out that in 1999, the then-governor Tinubu met a state that was almost insolvent, with a monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N600 million and a wage bill of over N1.1 billion.

Today, Lagos State is the fifth largest economy in Africa, larger than most African countries.

The Minister urged Nigerians to be patient with the government as the current economic situation would soon stabilize with positive results from ongoing reforms.

He emphasized that President Tinubu is well-versed in public finance and expressed confidence in his administration’s capacity to diversify the economy, plug leakages, and redirect it to a path of sustainable growth.

Alake also called for the restructuring of the economy, both physically and mentally, to ensure that the benefits of physical development can be efficiently and judiciously enjoyed by all.

He emphasized that with the cooperation of Nigerians, the tide will turn very soon, and the nation will be proud of its progress.
