President Bola Tinubu has made significant changes to the leadership of two key agencies, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
The President has dismissed the Chief Executive Officers of both agencies, citing plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions.
The affected Chief Executive Officers are Mr. Babatunde Irukera, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the FCCPC, and Mr. Alexander Ayoola Okoh, the Director-General/CEO of the BPE.
Both of these individuals have been directed to immediately hand over responsibilities to the next most senior officials in their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers.
This decision by President Tinubu is a clear indication of his commitment to ensuring that the Federal Government is better positioned to protect the rights of Nigerian consumers and foster a stronger economy.
