President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed to deploy every available resource to free the abducted students and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State. He promised the rescue operation would involve international partners working alongside Nigerian security forces.
Tinubu made the pledge on Thursday at the commissioning of the refurbished Premier Hotel in Ibadan. He stressed that the government is taking the kidnapping crisis and rising banditry nationwide very seriously.
The President, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, called on all Nigerians to stay alert. He urged citizens to work hand-in-hand with security agencies to combat criminal activities.
Traditional rulers and religious leaders have a vital role to play, Akume told the gathering. Government has created channels for these institutions to contribute meaningfully to the fight against crime, he added.
Peace and stability are essential for economic growth, the President noted. Without security, businesses cannot thrive and investors will look elsewhere, he explained.
His administration has invested heavily in Nigeria's security infrastructure over three years, according to Akume. Intelligence operations have been upgraded, technology improved, and the military given more support.
Inter-agency coordination among security forces has strengthened dramatically, he said. Community-based security schemes have also been expanded to cover more areas.
A new policing bill is being debated in the National Assembly right now. Akume noted that rollout of the improved policing framework would happen soon.
Security improvements are already showing results across many regions of the country. Tinubu remains committed to ensuring every Nigerian can live and work safely.
Tourism and hospitality have become priority sectors under the current administration. The government is backing culture, entertainment, and the creative industries with concrete policies.
Transport links are being upgraded nationwide, including airport terminals and road networks. Digital services are improving while business registration is becoming faster and simpler.
Private investors are being encouraged to partner with government on tourism projects. Nigeria is positioning itself as a hub for business, leisure, and global conferences.
Premier Hotel embodies this vision perfectly, Akume explained. Such projects create thousands of jobs for young people across Nigeria.
They boost local businesses and draw international visitors to experience Nigerian culture. Economic growth follows naturally when quality hospitality facilities exist.
The administration is also launching Regional Development Commissions in every part of Nigeria. The South West Development Commission has already been established and is operating.
These commissions will drive infrastructure projects and economic integration at the regional level. They create platforms for accelerated growth across all zones.
