Abia's ruling party has named its three Senate candidates for the 2027 election race. Jude Udeachara, Bob Ogu, and Chinyere Onuoha won tickets for the three senatorial zones.
Udeachara claimed victory in Abia North with 39,740 votes cast in his favor. He previously ran for the House of Representatives in 2019 under the PDP banner.
Ogu secured the Abia Central slot after gathering 18,901 votes during the primary exercise. He served as Works Commissioner under former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's administration.
Onuoha triumphed in Abia South by polling 33,611 votes to clinch her party's ticket. Party officials announced the results at PDP headquarters in Umuahia on Thursday.
According to Ikenna Onuoha, who chaired the election committee, the voting process ran smoothly. He noted that the entire primary exercise achieved consensus and stayed free from acrimony.
Abraham Amah, the state party chairman, expressed confidence in his party's prospects come 2027. He told party members they're mounting serious preparations to win across Abia.
