‘They’re Sadists’: Wike Slams Critics of FCT Projects

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has responded to critics who claim there have been no improvements in the FCT since he assumed office.

In a recent inspection of various road projects across the nation’s capital, Wike defended the government’s efforts to address infrastructure challenges and dismissed accusations of rising criminality.

During the inspection on Wednesday, Wike criticized those who do not acknowledge the positive changes in the FCT as “sadists” and highlighted ongoing efforts to repair vandalized streetlights.

He emphasized that the government is not only focusing on road projects but also on the health, education, and agriculture sectors.

Reacting to claims of rising criminality, the Minister suggested that those making such claims might be complicit themselves.

He urged Nigerians to recognize the improvements made by the government and questioned the motives of those who refuse to accept the reality of the positive changes in the FCT.

Wike inspected several ongoing road projects, including those at Guzape Lot 2 by Gilmor Construction, the Goodluck Jonathan Expressway project by Salini Nigeria Limited, road resurfacing projects in Asokoro by Julius Berger, and infrastructure developments in the Diplomatic Area.

The Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing debates about the effectiveness of government initiatives in the FCT and the broader challenges faced by Nigeria’s capital city.

As the government continues to invest in infrastructure and address public safety concerns, the response to these efforts by critics and the public will be closely watched.

The ongoing projects and the Minister’s strong defense of the government’s efforts reflect the challenges faced by the FCT and the importance of infrastructure development in Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.
