TCN Announces Seven-Hour Power Outage in Abuja: Residents Brace for Impact

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has recently announced a seven-hour power outage in some areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday and Sunday.

This news has left residents of the affected areas in Abuja scrambling to make necessary arrangements to cope with the temporary loss of electricity.

According to the TCN, the power outage is a result of planned maintenance work on its 132/33kV 2X100MVA power transformers in the Apo Transmission Substation.

This maintenance is necessary to ensure the long-term stability and reliability of the power grid in the region.

The affected areas in Abuja include Garki, Asokoro, Lugbe, Airport Road, Gudu, Gaduwa, parts of Lokogoma, Apo, Kabusa, Guzape, and Nepa Junction.

These areas will experience a seven-hour power interruption on both Saturday and Sunday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

Residents of the affected areas are advised to make necessary preparations to minimize the impact of the power outage.

This may include charging electronic devices, storing perishable food in coolers with ice, and ensuring that backup power sources, such as generators or power banks, are in working order.

Despite the inconvenience, the planned maintenance work by TCN is a necessary step in ensuring the long-term stability and reliability of the power grid in Abuja.

While residents will have to endure a temporary loss of electricity, they can rest assured that the work being done will ultimately benefit them in the long run.
