Liya Samuel Lucy is demanding answers from APC leadership. The female aspirant for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency says the party failed to hold its primary election on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Lucy and other party members waited all day for officials. Nobody from the APC National Secretariat showed up to conduct the exercise.

The party's electoral committee finally arrived in Jalingo around 3 pm. By then, it was too late to distribute materials to 168 wards across Taraba State.

She told reporters the delay amounted to poor planning. "The silence from the electoral committee is not good enough for us as aspirants," Lucy said.

Since the committee's arrival, aspirants received no official word about what happened. Nobody explained why Saturday's election didn't take place.

Lucy called on National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda to step in. She wants the party to brief all aspirants on next steps immediately.

"The committee arrived in the state and met with the State Working Committee, but we have not heard from them," she noted. "There was no press briefing explaining why the election did not hold on Saturday."

According to her, aspirants deserve transparent communication about the process. The ruling party should set an example for other political parties to follow.

Lucy stressed that party members have rights that must be respected. Clear information about the electoral timeline is non-negotiable.

"I am calling on the National Chairman of our great party to ensure that a new date is fixed and properly communicated to all aspirants in the state," she added. "We are completely in the dark about the entire process, and we need clarification from the National Chairman."

She demanded the party announce when rescheduled primaries would hold. Aspirants in Taraba State are waiting for official confirmation.
