In a significant meeting held on Thursday, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) issued a heartfelt apology to the nation for the disappointing performance of the Super Eagles in the ongoing qualification series for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
Out of ten matches, the team has underperformed in four, falling far short of the expectations of the Nigerian people.
The meeting, attended by key figures including NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, 1st Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, and Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, among others, addressed the pressing need for immediate and effective measures to rectify the situation.
The NFF pledged to work tirelessly to ensure a better-prepared squad for the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers in September and the resumption of the World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
To achieve this, the Executive Committee resolved to employ an expatriate Technical Adviser for the Super Eagles and to strengthen the NFF Technical Department with more qualified personnel.
Additionally, the Technical and Development Sub-Committee will be revamped immediately.
