Spike in COVID-19: Inoaghan charges Sapele residents to be cautious, cooperate with govt

The Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan has charged residents of Sapele residents to be more cautious and cooperation with the government and relevant agencies in combating the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic following the recent spike in new cases of the virus in Sapele.

 

The council chairman in a press statement press, expressed satisfaction at the proactive steps so far taken by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, in curbing the spread of the dreaded coronavirus in the State.

 

He called on Sapele residents to strictly comply with advice and directives given by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and the state government, adding that the positive cases in Sapele had increased from 3 in April to 77 by June, saying it called for serious concern.

Inoaghan expressed hope that with the regular sensitization already put in place, residents should be discipline to protect themselves and help to prevent the spread of the disease by constant washing of hands with soap and water, or by the use of alcohol-based sanitizer, covering of nose and mouth.

 

He advised the use of disposable tissues or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing, avoiding close contact with people who are sick, staying at home and self isolate from others in the household if one is unwell.

 

The chairman called for cooperation from residents and reiterated that wedding receptions, burial and all other public functions remain outlawed, the use of face mask is compulsory and all business premises must have soap, water and/ or hand sanitizers at their entrance.
