Senator Ubah Vows to Expose Frauds in Nigeria’s Refineries Turn Around Maintenance

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), has vowed to expose all frauds associated with the contracts and management of the Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) of Nigeria’s refineries.

This comes after his appointment as the Chairman of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee mandated to investigate the TAM of the nation’s refineries and all contracts awarded for their rehabilitation.

In a statement released on March 8, 2024, Senator Ubah assured the public that his committee would carry out the mandate in a transparent, accountable, and thorough manner.

The committee plans to visit the sites of the refineries, interface with all stakeholders involved in their management, and speak with the contractors who were awarded the contracts.

The senator expressed gratitude to his colleagues in the Senate for entrusting him with this important responsibility and pledged to fulfill his duties with integrity and diligence.

He emphasized that it is crucial for the Nigerian people to have confidence in the operations of their refineries and the use of public funds.

The investigation aims to uncover any mismanagement, corruption, or inefficiencies in the Turn Around Maintenance of the refineries and the contracts awarded for their rehabilitation.

Senator Ubah and his committee members will gather necessary information, interview key stakeholders, and conduct site visits to the refineries in order to present a comprehensive report to the Senate.

The outcome of this investigation could lead to significant improvements in the management of Nigeria’s refineries, ultimately benefiting the nation’s economy and its people.
