Senator Nwoko Clarifies: I didn’t abandon Anioma delegates at Enugu, says statehood is a collective cause

Senator Ned Nwoko, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation and representative of Delta North, has dismissed as “false and sensational” a report alleging he neglected Anioma State delegates during the recent Constitution Review hearing in Enugu.

In a statement from his Media Office on Monday, Nwoko described the report, published by an online platform, as a deliberate fabrication by a “discredited activist” seeking cheap relevance.

“The headline about Senator Ned Nwoko and Anioma is just another tired attempt by a man who has made it his full-time hustle to blackmail those he cannot understand or control,” the statement read.

The senator clarified that delegates who signified interest in attending the public hearing were “duly and responsibly catered for,” including logistics, transport, feeding, and accommodation.

“There was never any agreement or discussion about monetary compensation for attendance,” he said. “No one was doing Senator Ned Nwoko a personal favour. They were speaking up for themselves, their children, their identity, and their future.”

He emphasised that the Anioma State agitation is not a personal project but a people-driven pursuit he has chosen to champion.

“Senator Ned Nwoko does not and will not bribe people to support justice. He does not pay people to believe in their self-determination,” the statement added.

Reaffirming his commitment, Nwoko vowed to continue pushing for Anioma State through legitimate legislative advocacy.
