Senate to confirm new CBN governor and deputies today

The Senate will today (Tuesday) confirm the appointment of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), along with four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors.

Cardoso, who has been serving as the acting CBN governor since the resignation of Mr. Godwin Emefiele in August, is expected to lead the apex bank for the next five years.

The four deputy governors will oversee the four departments of the CBN: economic policy, financial system stability, corporate services, and operations.
