Gabriel Pidomson has emerged as the African Democratic Congress's governorship candidate in Rivers State. He's known as a close ally of former governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Pidomson, who hails from Gokana Local Government Area, won the party primary decisively on Saturday night. He polled 112,068 votes across all 23 local government areas of the state.

Carol Obaro, chairperson of the ADC Primary Election Committee, announced the results at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt. She declared Pidomson the winner after collating votes from across the state.

His closest rival was Sekonte Davies, who came second with just 16,872 votes. The gap between first and second place was substantial.

Farah Dagogo, a former Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant, placed third with 2,369 votes. Three other candidates participated but received minimal support.

Leloonu Nwibubasa scored 1,476 votes in the contest. Henry Ogbonna polled 546 votes, while Allen Ezekiel Hart garnered only 268 votes.

"The highest score is 112,068 votes for Gabriel Pidomson," Obaro told party officials. According to her, he satisfied all constitutional requirements for the nomination.

Pidomson previously served in public office during his political career. He represented Gokana in the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007.

His government experience extends beyond the legislature. Between June and October 2007, he worked as Secretary to the Rivers State Government under Celestine Omehia.

The primary election marks a significant milestone for the ADC in Rivers politics. Party officials now look toward the general election campaign ahead.

Pidomson's victory reflects Amaechi's continued influence in state political circles. His emergence as the ADC flag-bearer could reshape the 2025 governorship race.
