Reps, ACF Collaborate to Review Proposed Parliamentary System

Towards a potential shift in Nigeria’s governance system, members of the House of Representatives and the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) have joined forces to review the proposed parliamentary system of government.

The collaboration aims to address the challenges of the current presidential system and create a more efficient and accountable governance structure.

The move comes after a high-level meeting between the Parliamentarians, led by Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, and the ACF leadership.

The discussions centered on the need for a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s governance system to reduce the burden of government, enhance accountability, and improve decision-making and execution processes.

The Parliamentarians, who initiated the proposed legislation, have been engaging with various stakeholders in the country to garner support for the bills that seek to introduce a parliamentary system of government.

The ACF, a prominent northern Nigerian socio-political organization, has expressed its willingness to provide input and support for the proposed legislation.

Both parties have agreed to set up a committee to review the draft bills and make recommendations for the benefit of the country.

The collaboration is expected to incorporate the wealth of knowledge and experience of the ACF members in lawmaking and governance.

The proposed parliamentary system is seen as a potential solution to address various agitations in the country and create a Nigerian or African system that considers the values, visions, views, and aspirations of the people.

The move towards a more efficient and effective governance structure is expected to bring about positive changes in Nigeria’s political landscape.

As the collaboration between the House of Representatives and the ACF progresses, the proposed legislation will be closely watched by the Nigerian public, as well as political and social organizations, to see how it will shape the future of the country’s governance system.
