Ramadan: Marwa Urges Nigerians to Pray for Tinubu and Leaders, Emphasizes Importance of Parental Care in Combating Drug Abuse

In the midst of economic challenges, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), has urged Nigerian Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors, ministers, and other political leaders.

During a pre-Ramadan lecture organized by the Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Memorial Jummat Mosque in Asokoro, Abuja on Sunday 3rd March, 2024, Marwa emphasized the significance of the holy month as a period of forgiveness, blessings, and reward for good deeds.

He encouraged attendees to pray for President Tinubu and other leaders to be guided in their critical roles.

Marwa, who was the father of the day at the event, reminded the audience that the holy book instructs them to pray for their leaders.

He called on Muslim faithful to take advantage of the holy month of Ramadan to offer prayers for President Tinubu, state governors, ministers, and other leaders.

Addressing the issue of drug abuse, Marwa urged parents to pay more attention to the upbringing of their children and provide them with quality care to prevent them from engaging in drug use.

He called for early intervention for those already experimenting or struggling with substance abuse to avoid worsening their situation.

As part of the NDLEA’s efforts to combat drug abuse, Marwa highlighted the social advocacy campaign called war against drug abuse (WADA), which aims to mobilize citizens to take ownership of the fight and raise awareness about the dangers of illicit drugs.

This campaign has gained significant momentum in the past three years.

Additionally, the NDLEA has established treatment and counseling centers in 30 of its Commands nationwide and a call center with a toll-free helpline to provide psycho-social support for those in need.

Marwa commended the Chief Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Lukman Amobiojo, and the organizing committee for their efforts in putting together the annual lecture.
